If you can see the menu toolbar go to HELP & click on ABOUT.
I'm presently on IE11. (which I don't use anymore)
Free download of Firefox may assist you but make sure you know all your "remembered" passwords.
You can have both browsers installed at the same time & choose which one you want at any time.
At a guess I'd think it'd be security, privacy, Flash or Java settings/updates.
If you do install Firefox make sure you take any ticks out of extra trash bits & pieces!!

Bruce Google Chrome as well as Firefox was installed by techie but still no FB. Have uninstalled them both after that little exercise.

Well in that case I'd be updating Flash & Java.
Flash directly.

Java in Control Panel / Jave (update now)
Then I'd go to control panel & to Internet Options & look at the SECURITY & PRIVACY settings & make sure they're set to DEFAULT.

Kay if you can (some can't!), go to www.teamviewer.com & download it for "private use".
Install it.
Remove any ticks you see for anything other than free, private use.
Take the easiest, simplest options until installed.
Once installed, click on the shortcut on your desktop & copy the YOUR ID & the PASSWORD & send it to me via email or PM.
I may not see what your problem is but I can try!!

Bruce, Bruce what can I say but many thanks for last night- now everyone & am not talking about my Bruce but wonder man BruceS. Nothing resolved last night after 2 hours trolling my machine but he sent me a suggestion this morning & I did as was suggested & it worked. I had not checked FB because I went straight to Bruce's PM.
Maybe the gremlins had been busy overnight
We will certainly owe you when next we catch up.
