Ros & The BOSS'S NT Adventure

Post by Ros20549 »

Hi...........Well got up this morning very excited as its only 5 more sleeps till our departure for our next big adventure, which will include a few weeks helping out on a cattle station. But things can change really quickly.. Just had a phone call from my poor old 86 year Dad to tell us that my 85 year Mum had a bad fall this morning getting out of bed, fell face first into the oil heater she has in her room, so a severely broken nose two beautiful black eyes, face swelling and really shaken up, also she is in hospital as they can't stop the bleeding due her being on warfarin, so not good and they are nearly 4 hours away from us, so it looks like its going to be a big drive tomorrow to see them both, they do not want us to come and just want us to push on ahead for our trip, so do we go or do we wait and see for another couple of days. >> :?
Then on top of that as you all know we have just had our van completely re-sealed due to a few leaky problems, well just went out into the van to put a few more things in and yes you guessed still have a bloody leak coming from the front window ( the only thing they did not do due to a miss understanding ) so now Boss has more work to do looks like we have to remove the silicon around the front windows himself and replace and see if that will do the job. Think I need to buy a Tatts ticket and see if I can win then this van will be going I am a little over it at present. :x
So at this stage our departure date looks in doubt . :(

Cheers Ros

Poor buggers but your parents are right. If mum is on the mend and they get her stable with the warfarin then you do have to push onwards with your lives. IF something more serious happens then there is nothing you can do either so do as your parents say and do your thing.. Hugs to the oldies. Get a windscreen place to do the front window Ros quicker and less bother for you two at the mo. But hover to make sure they do the job right. ;) More Chinamen around I see, they are breeding like ferrets :? . Come West with us, departing SA no later than the 7th July, tag along and have some fun which is what you need by the sounds of things, go on I dare yu. xx :D

Well only 3 more sleeps now, Mum is coming along really well, will be out of hospital tomorrow Dad was hoping they would keep her a few more days he was enjoying the rest (have to meet my Mum to fully understand    ) so the packing is complete and we are back on tract to leave on Saturday for our trip with their blessing. BOSS has re-sealed to the front windows so finger crossed that is the last of our water problems. So fingers crossed the bloody Chinamen have moved on else where for awhile.

Cheers Ros.

Leaks can drive you nuts. I am still chasing them in the swagman roof, the rear window i have managed to stop though.
I have my suspicions about the air cons, and whether they are letting water into the roof. More tins of roof sealer I guess.

"tanks" here---
Ros, come over to 40 Mile Beach and your problems will be over. It has not rained here for over a month; the wind will dry out your van, and it won't take too long with day temps of around 28c to 30c.
As you are in N.T. just turn Right and cross the border then keep going for about 6 days and you will be here. You can help support Dot's Great Shave, and mix with some great Forum people. Don't go fishing at Fitzroy Crossing---at least not in a tin boat !

Keith.

I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

A Tad cold in Ballarat today top temp 7deg.. so it really is time to head north. No more heavy rain so the van has not been tested yet. :| Would love to go west but we have work on a Cattle Station in NT for all of August which we are really looking forward to, something a little different. So our plan is to leave this wintery place on Saturday and make a run for Alice Springs, will mostly free camp except for a night in Port Pirie to have a look around have pasted it about 5 times but never gone in.. After a few days in Alice it will be out to visit Kate a Gem Tree to see if we can find a fortune in gems  From Alice up the centre as far as Mataranka where we turn right along the Roper Highway to our Cattle Station stay till approx. the end of August, then back home inland via Birdsville, Quilpie etc. Home about mid October. I will try and post a few photo's and words of our trip when ever we have service.

Cheers Ros.

Hi. Well we have been on the road for 3 days now currently in Port Pirie have driven past this little town often and never called in glad we did had a good look around it was just a pity the weather has been terrible lots of wind and rain.
Our first day out we did a big day for us 525 km spent our first day in a free camp at Tailem Bend South a good free camp enjoyed a camp fire with two other campers. Next day we had a meet up with Dot and George, who. brought along Chuck & Katrine & Jenny & Mike we all meet at Murray Bridge for a coffee and a catch up thanks guys for coming up to meet us. After morning tea And our good byes it was onto our stop for the night at a little town called Brinkworth, they have a community run caravan park for $12.00 you get lovely hot showers, water and power and a nice level site on gravel . Our night was ruff weather wise glad we were in the park. Today we moved on to Port Pirie , tomorrow we move further up the road. No photo's yet have not downloaded then from the camera promise when I get around to it.
And the bad news is the bl...dy windows are still leaking so not happy, anyone want a cheap van. I think I have one for sale

Cheers Ros
