Board Election 2014
The ballot papers for this year’s Board Election will be sent to members (eligible to vote) with the August edition of The Wanderer.
Please ensure you complete your details on the reverse side of the Reply Paid envelope. This information is used ONLY to identify voting eligibility by the Returning Officer.
You can also ask for them to be mailed to you anywhere if you expect to be on the road.
I understand that a valid ballot will have one or two candidates names selected. Pick three and the vote is invalid.
Personally I would prefer to see a preferential ballot paper so that the eight candidates could be ranked it order.
Like other elections it can be sometimes more important who is excluded in a large field of choices.
A winner might only need the support of one eighth of the voters plus one to become a director.

This was from motions put forward by Bruce, if I recall correctly.

Don't allow memories to be short on this issue. The most recent member victory, through a well organised campaign, were those member motions related to fee increases for membership. While we have money in the piggy bank just sitting there, it was difficult for the board to justify a fee increase and they lost twice. The board had all of the advantages when it came to communicating their view on the issue but the 'unreasoning rebels' prevailed on the evidence and the argument.
Why do you think that they removed the CMCA forum?

If you are complacent you risk a return of directors who think in the old ways.

Has any candidate put improving relations between the board and the membership as part of their platform? Those who have a long membership history will recall the days when each chapter and special interest group had a member invited to sit in on board meeting and put forward the views of their particular group to the board directly. The board scrapped this at the last Barcaldine rally and changes to the rules have remove the membership say from the running of the club even more. It's worth looking to see when and how a member or group of members can have their say to the board....... do you think that represents an open door policy between the membership and board, or an us v them approach?

Guess it would be good if CMCA members on this forum could read the answers to questions put forward to candidates running to be elected that are on the Aussie forum certainly gives the reader a better idea on which way to vote, hopefully the CMCA will continue to improve & keep working to promote freedom to choose where we stay.

It would be even better if the CMCA had a forum of it's own so the candidates could publish their sales pitch and answer questions directly.....

Yes Terry that would be ideal, hopefully we will get the CMCA forum returned with all the technical data & M.H. tips.
I enjoy visiting this & the Aussie forum & I would like to think that they would both continue as they are independent to the CMCA.

I think they would remain after a resurrection of the CMCA forum. I can't see the power brokers of the old forum getting their jobs back and not all members of this forum are CMCA members. hopefully it would stop any need for the CMCA stuff coming on to this forum... but that is possibly a more personal.

I think the key to all the CMCA issues are in the hands of the membership, the sooner they stop deluding themselves that the old club still exists and wake up to the fact the board has developed it into a $$ based company, the sooner they will revolt against the present system and force it back on track. I still see the only way the CMCA can back to it's roots is to follow the American RV club model, separate the club from the company and have the club steer the company board in the direction the membership wants. At the moment the tail is wagging the dog

Its a shame those standing dont take 5 minutes out to post what they are standing for here, there are some CMCA members here that are not active on other closed forums. It does kind of help me make my mind up though

Well I look at it this way.
If you are a member & you think someone who is already elected are indicating they would like to achieve something along the lines of what you think would benefit both yourself & the majority of fellow mates, then a quick email to him/her asking which nominated members might be thinking along similar lines is a much better option.
Unfortunately I don't take a lot of notice on the publicity that gets published in the 500 word 'letter'.
Others feel free to list other elected members here...
