Re: CMCA Elections.
I was also a member of the C*#A forum and enjoyed not only the banter, but the information that was available on it. To me, it was an absolute crime to deny members of the C*#A access to this information. I kept feeling that those that were running it were trying to control content too much, were not "modern" in their way of thinking and were not listening to what some of the "younger" more modern members were interested in.
At the end of the day, it is the newer upcoming members who can bring new ideas and suggestions that will encourage more younger people to join the organisation and bring in new blood to keep it going for years to come, and continue it long after the current elderly members have passed away or given up travelling due to their age or health reasons.
Not all 50 + people who are going to be approaching retirement years in a few short years, want to "hang out" with people 30 years older. Many of them are not into big rallies, but would prefer to meet people of a similar age, with similar interests who are interested in perhaps travelling to get-togethers somewhere for a few days. The other forum, as is this forum, was an ideal vehicle to implement ideas from these "younger" members, but to me, it seemed that the minute they started discussing things the way younger people do, the elder generation started wringing their hands in despair, because their old ways club mentality was being compromised. I may be wrong, but it seems that the minority outweighed the majority when it came to what should be acceptable and what shouldn't. Somehow I doubt that even if the other forum was reopened, it would ever progress, because the same people would be in there with their fingers in the pie, with the same outdated ideas and prejudices. Just my opinion.

Now having said that, I do remember Jenny saying something very similar on a far far away forum and she got the bejesus fickled finger of fate pointed at her for daring to say such %^&%% (not so here) she gets nice positive complements and encouragement

aussiegirl, that post is spot on, and would reflect what a lot of members think, but would not be game to say. WELL DONE.

Re: CMCA Elections.
Lets keep our fingers crossed that with the coming election when there will be 2 new Directors added to the board that the CMCA continues to change for the benefit of all members no matter what age.
I urge all CMCA members on this forum to take the time to cast a vote not enough members vote, no good complaining unless one tries to do something to change the situation.

Re: CMCA Elections.
To me, it's like a motorhome that has passed its use by date. It still has all the great memories but it can no longer deliver as the power upgrade does not suit the main structure and it has developed age related issues and simply could not be fixed without removing all the problem structure and rebuilding with new material. Sometimes it's better to cut your losses and start a fresh. It may be possibly to combine the materials that are still in good condition into the new project so the old structure is left finally collapse. No matter how much effort you invest into that old motorhome, it will continue to fail until all the old material is replaced.
The mindset of the older members cannot be changed or removed without the whole structure being revamped. Until the membership and the board are willing to accept this and release their power hold on the “club” it can’t be fixed I’m afraid. The structure of the CMCA was a club, it was changed to a company and is being directed and run as a company, yet the long term membership refuse to see this problem. The company runs the CMCA now and it is run for the benefit of the company, not the membership, the rules have been changed to exclude the membership from interfering with the running of the company. The tail is wagging the dog and the tail has all the control

Re: CMCA Elections.
Yes Terry but we do have new Directors in there running the CMCA or company & 2 more new Directors to be elected shortly, so fingers crossed things will continue to improve & they will listen to what we as members want from the club.
The recent response to the Big 4 advertisement in the local papers at Monto has to be a huge move forward.
