Had a few weeks to kill b4 Mrs shonky goes to the Singapore Garden Festival, so elected to drop in here for a few days. We've since booked in for another three weeks, which took one phone call to National Parks, and FYI the cost is $5.60 pppn, or $80 per week for two. Beautiful spot, although the sound of the sea may become boring after, I dunno, six months?

The lass at National Parks advised me that although one can only stay there for a month "I think it's one day" b4 you can come back.

There are a few residents of middle years apparently absent of any income so I'm training Steffie to be a watchdog. (Rolls around floor of motorhome in fits of hysterical laughter!) Maybe if she thought they might steal her dog food?

Still here - one of the best sites around, IMHO ,that is, apart from the summer holidays.
Dump point, good water and supermarket 10km away, and the butcher in town is excellent. 15degrees overnight and max today of 24 degrees. Not bad for winter.

How far along are you shonky, all the way to the point or at one of the first camp spots.
We have a old od old 1960's camper trailer we use for Inskip...did I mention its bloody old.
Its pretty basic a bed, thats about it. All the usual camping stuff but going back to a ice box...not fun.
Does the ice truck still come thru each day?

I see William has posted, some times down at the point you can get a bus to...depends on conditions its about the only place you maybe able to get big rigs in.
No doubt shonky will enlighten us. but don't even think of it during holidays packs out fast.

Hi, all.

We're at the first campsite on the right, and were able to get a sunny spot for the solar. All the other rigs at this site are 4WDs towing caravans. Recommend you go to the far end where we spotted a few motorhome, large and small. Wouldn't do any harm to send the toad up first for a look around, and ensure you stock up on all stores beforehand, as other rigs may park in your tracks, making shopping fun. BTW you can book in advance online with National Parks,who are very helpful, and if you're on a single pension you know what to do.

The ice, bread, paper and firewood ute still visits daily, and I believe holidays are worse than you imagine. National Parks expect ten times as many rigs turn up.

Back at Inskip Point - one of our favourite spots, apart from the fact that the little nearly-no-see-ums are moving in.
Found a cream stocked by agricultural suppliers, bought by farmers to use around their horses' eyes to keep the flies off. While it's not labelled as a repellent it works very well on humans. Smells like rosemary and cedar wood oil, and can easily be found out west.

Is it called "Sandfly and Mozzie Stuff"? I first bought it at Kerang and it's the only thing that works for me, the Midgie Magnet. Available at Cooloola Cove Mitre 10 I'm told.

Swisslulu - the label's worn off, but it's made by Simmons & Co in Victoria and not sold as a repellent. Comes in a white screw-top container.

Have not tried on the midgies but Desert Dwellers would probably work as well as also Rosemary & Cedarwood oils in natural cream base. Have bottles in van, in car, in bag.
