Ok serious we have enjoyed NT especially Kakadu hopefully we will get to the 'rock' and Alice next year, far north Qld Cape York was great. SA we enjoyed a short time exploring will be back there next year.
Tasmania is a place we both love its in a world of its own regarding exploring Probley put it at the top of places so far.
We have only sorta drove thru Vic on way to other places but next year we are planning to be down there.[did live there for awhile in 1960]
NSW has lots of great places too many to name [was born there]
Although we have been to WA we have not driven there [we flew] so cant give it a tick yet.
Its sorta funny at times but I suppose its in the eye of the beholder, we have been to places that we thought were just great and others thought different .

This is a tough / probing question Norman.

We have only been around the eastern states and as far west as Ceduna. WA is in the plan but not for a while yet.

We spent a few months in central Australia ( Tennant Ck - Port Lincoln) a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it but that sort of environment doesn't resonate with us as much as the east coast is which probably about what we are used to - the water and botany

Overlaying this are our personal propensities. Pam tends to gravitate towards places or things to see such as Cosmos Centre, Farina, Lake Eyre whereas I lean towards people and small communities eg opal miners Koroit, fisherman/campers off Eyre Hwy, beached boaties at Shorncliffe.

Ditto to comments about heath, well being and attitude.

So in terms the most interesting State I don't think we would have a clear answer. We both enjoy new places and meeting new people and so it could follow that the most interesting would be places would be those we havn't spent a lot of time in. And yet a little while ago we met some really interesting people and had a great explore at the rail trail campsite at Linville (which is on our door step).

I think we just need to travel a lot more so that we have a better answer when the question is asked next time.

The time spent in the Northern Territory was highlighted when I happened on a book titled "John McDoual Stuart". While reading about this fellow, the phrase, "Hey, I've been there" became a common occurrence. While travelling, I often thought how in the world did the explorers do it with such limited resources - compared to motoring down a bitumen path (even if it was/is one lane) in airconditioned comfort, loaded with food and enough water even to shower with.

I've been everywhere except for Fraser Island, Cape York and Uluru, so I feel qualified to comment here. The Territory is not five star, but holds very special memories for me. It's the memories that make your special place, just like Briar Rabbits Laughin Place*.

I'll give it this, and that is the WA truckies are mostly professional gentlemen.

However, the Bing Crosby song "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" will always remind me of WA.

Apart from that, I agree with you:
Three years on the road visiting all states & territories.
Ten months of that in WA.
Five of those months in the SW.

Says it all, really.
