Bus is at mechanics for service and check up so we asked about fitting cruise control for the longish drives here and there e.g Nulla crossing, he did some checking and the unit he came up with was around the $600 mark so we thought for 5 seconds and declined, couldn't justify that so looks like we do lesser ks in one go BUT any suggestions or info that may be helpful in the area of a cruise control from you ingenious lot appreciated.

It's simply a matter of weighing up the benefits.
In hilly country you will use a lot more fuel.
On flat country you'll fall asleep and run off the road but you will be able to race back to the toilet while George watches the road!
Simple to change drivers while traveling but don't tell the fun police I said that!!
I think you get a little bit better 'feel' of your vehicle without one. Flat tyre, engine sluggish etc etc
Of course you can not use it at any time if you wish?

I know it is not a real important or necessary thing to have but it would have been very handy like I said on the roads like the Nulla and esp when my foot/leg was in difficulty after my surgery plus trying to keep a steady pace when leading the way with the Chuckles rig looming in the mirrors

I have been considering fitting one to the Coaster because after about 2 hours driving my right knee starts to play up. I usually stop and exercise the dog for 10 mins or so and all is well. But when I don't have the dog with me I would rather just be able to keep going if I was trying to make a mile. I was hoping that someone might be able to recommend one that they had on their vehicle.

Have a look at the one two posts above. There are variations for manual/auto; various ignition types and older diesel. It's a handyman job for most - more complicated when the driver is at one end and the motor the other. I have one on the Daihatsu Terios and have fitted them to many vehicles that I have owned since the late seventies.

Yes, pretty easy on a vehicle with vacuum brakes (Civilian & Coaster) but not sure in Dot's case as she has a turbo diesel.

24 volt also becomes a problem!

No vac brakes (have air compressor) and also 24volt.
This is one of the probs we have with not being able to get any dam info on this bus. Sent a fax to the CEO of Fuso in Japan requesting assistance with any books, dvd's anything but as usual not even a polite reply to say got your request ===RUDE as us Europeans
