What Price To Dump

Post by Dot »

Do you think that council dump points should ask a fee and if so what do you consider an appropriate fee?? Do you shop in the town that charges?? Just a thought.. Q/If you went with a group of friends to watch a kid play footy and you all went to the loo that would cost more to the council than for one cassette to be flushed. Then there is the other way of looking at this , you pay xyz $$ to empty a 15lit cassette and then the big rig comes in with their 300lit black tank and empties for the same price :?

Charging a fee would be an invitation for people to dump on the roadside - IMHO.

I agree Steve and that is what I told them when I rang. I was told to send in my concerns so thus this thread.
I hope to get quite a few responses to this thread because I want to show the local council what we think to their money grubbing over the top dump fee of $5...

Yes it is happening here in Strathalbyn SA
Helen aka The boring one" are here visiting us for a few days so as you do Paul went to the council run caravanpark (where the dump point has been FREE fro years and years) and when he went to use the dump point he was told the fee was now $5. I rang our local council and asked WTF and they said the "committee" that over sees the council area has now dumped the dump fee on. Helen has just written a letter to the council telling them how much $$ she has spent so far in the town and that word will quickly spread and the town will lose $$ from this decision of theirs... etc etc Get behind this one please forumites this is not right.. Hmmm might get hold of the SA rep of the cmca, they are supposed to help with this crappo stuff.

We wont be taking our shlt there, or our money. If I need to I will use the macerator to dump in a public toilet.
Certainly wont be paying.
Just as an aside, one town we regularly empty at had a business that was the recipient of $1600 from us for a new set of tyres, rather than going back to Perth for them.
I have no drama paying for potable water

Maybe $2 might be ok in a C.P. But not if it has been installed by the CMCA, then should be free to all travellers. CMCA dump points are installed for ALL to use FREE.

Dot, If you wanted to dump on the Gold Coast then $5 would be cheap. As far as I know there are only 2 D/P's on the whole coast. The council run park charges $15 and the other $5. The Sewerage Plant used to allow dump for free but someone stuffed that up by dumping a load of ammonia one night and that killed all the good bugs in the treatment process. And that is why people dump in public toilets.
