Saturn Antenna

Post by Boblebago »

Parked up on mates block at Moonta Bay last Saturday and raised trusty Saturn Omni directional TV antenna tuned in and got 3 pixelated SBS channels, watched DVD's.
Looking at the high TV antennas on houses thought we were to low for any reception, then today turned bus 90 degrees to pull out a tree and decided to retune TV, we now have all channels.

The bloke who makes them, demonstrated a prototype that was able to turn at the Adelaide Caravan Show in 2011 when we bought it. Dot I have doe the same as George but it's a PIA.
I have sent an email to the company, on their web page they say it works in any direction.
The main selling point for me was that it was motorised to raise and lower and was easier to fit to the roof of the bus than a Winegard.

I must be missing something because an Omni directional antenna is supposed to receive signal from all directions equally. :? :?

Craig I think the "pull out a tree" comment indicated he shifted from behind a tree. Might not have been much to do with the 90 degree bit.
I've found my old broomstick one is sometimes better than someone alongside me with some much more expensive gadgetry one.
Doesn't look so good though!!

Hi Bruce,

but it doesn't explain the "demonstrated a prototype that was able to turn" comment. Why would you need an omni antenna that you had to turn? that would make it a directional antenna. ;)

We tried the manual turn while at 40 mile beach as we were getting 0 reception but apparently that was not un common up there. We have never had a good run with this antenna and when we contacted the "maker" his response was that our tv tuner was no good BUT he had a tv that had a great tuner  rather than give him more $$ we did what some on here suggested and that was to get a set top box but as yet we have to try it out... I think the old wire coat hanger might be just as good. ;)
