You have NO idea on this Mexican David, none what so ever but I must say he loves animals so I shall be kind and say he ain't all bad.., plus he drives a holden so ok he is (sort of ok) Now what about the question of kiln insulation and a vent in the back of the bus to draw more air around the motor.??supersparky wrote:Those bloody Mexicans....Dot wrote:What ever that super mechanic has done to the bus it has worked................................................................................. Re: Dot & Georges .
Can G cut up a boogy board and fit it as insulation? The kiln is insulated with asbestos, don't think you would want that in your mobile home.

Re: Dot & Georges .
Here ya go Dottie http://www.isolite.co.jp/en/index.html ceramic wool fibre, look through the range to find one suitable for the job. I would be hesitant regarding cutting holes in the back area of the bus, this will no necessarily allow hot air to escape and could actually drag even hotter air and dirt into the engine compartment. The Volkswagen Kombi has an air cooled engine, the engine bay is sealed off from air entering anywhere other than through the side vents and the hot air is directed under the rear of the vehicle. If that seal is broken or the back door not properly sealed the eng will over heat and destroy itself so the aim is the feed more cool air in and provide an exit path under the vehicle to the rear of the hot areas if you want to remove heat from the engine bay. Scoops and thermofans on the side air intakes and baffle plates keeping the air in the engine compartment and then direct out and under the rear bumper is the better solution, and keep the fans running for 10 mins or more after the eng is turned off to help pump the heat out rather than it heat soaking the area.

Re: Dot & Georges .
Dottie, you should know better.
Asbestos can't be imported into Australia, or sold. And think of the people being put at risk every time the look at the engine, and work on it.
Ceramics might be a better way.... but remember, there is 500+ kilos of steel warmed upto 90*C.
