Our new family member

Post by GregnDee »

Greg and I have been together seven years now, so I guess it was time to expand the family!

We've been looking after other people's dogs for a long time, and Greg dearly wanted one too, so we started looking for Border Collie pups. I found an ad for a five year old rescue dog, Border Collie x Kelpie, and we went to look at her today.

Greg fell in love with her immediately. Should I be jealous? Anyway, hopefully we will be approved, so that we can pick her up in a weeks time.

She is a delight. Mfriendly, loves people, doesn't bark, and in the five weeks the foster mum has had her she's learnt sit, down, stay, and fetch. She needs some leash work, which isn't surprising. The previous owners ignored her, over fed her, left her in a yard, bought two little dogs and then gave her to the Australian Working Dogs Rescue people.

So here she is....Jess....and she'll be travelling with us soon....

Cheers
Dee

Hooray, well done, congrats and all that jazz. Love the fact you rescued a dog that deserves a better home than those scum bags that she had prev. Look forward to seeing her adventures. :D :D :D :D

Jess is to be handed over to Greg & Dee in a weeks time. She is at the foster carers place from the rescue people. These rescue places usually suss out the dogs temperament, health etc before it goes to the prospective new owner then it is also a trial period with them for both the dog and the adoptive parents..

Apparently the previous owners were going to shoot her if the rescue people didn't take her! We have to have someone come round to make sure we are fit dog owners, she's coming tomorrow, but it's a done deal.
As for the Bailey...the quarantine ppl have found "agricultural residue" so we have another wait.

Hadn't thought of giving Jess her own Facebook page!

...so it's all a waiting game....

Cheers to all xxx
