Thanks for the input folks. I think I will give Bruces idea a try and leave it up whilst travelling. My of our travels have been on the blacktop so far, so it should be OK.

In our Winnie, we put the tv in one of the overhead cupboards on one of those swivel brackets and G had a couple of foam padded arms that folded over the screen when travelling.

I always carry ours on the bracket so its upright. I was told by a a salesman in a country store that TVs are best carried upright. If you carry them flat it should be screen up. According to him laying them flat with the screen down can allow the screen to flex if you hit a bump which can cause the screen to delaminate. I have never met anyone who has had a problem though.

I've alway reinforced the bolts holding the brackets to the wall, replacing screws with nuts and bolts. Then I put some "eye" brackets above and below the TV and use the down straps to hold it against the wall. Not fallen off yet travelled Adelaide to Cairns no problems. :-)
