More like Herb All Fart and the Tinawana A*se, brass band music
it's bad enough they are allowed in parades and stuff, fancy people recording it to torture other unsuspecting folks with

A person may fail many times, they only become a failure when they blame someone else John Burrows

You should be able to connect the TV to the stereo in the van using a set of leads like the leads you would connect a DVD player or old VCR player to a TV.
Some thing like this.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PRO2-AUDIO-V ... 418wt_1202
But you would only use 2 of the plugs (leave the video lead out)

Re: External Speakers for TV.
Its OK people you all know Terry is DEAF. Like he now heareee to goodee
Doesn't know what music is but because he is a nice fella we will let it pass. Gee I had to put up with pink flyover or was it flyood or something.
Me I like any music that has notation and a tune to it. No Headbanging and no noisy guitars doing slides looking for a note somewhere that they can't find but it is there somewhere.
Besides, music is like beauty, it is in the eye(or Ear) of the beholder.
Terry that means you like yours and I like mine and as long as they don't get played together all is OK.
I remember when I used to play in parades and the bagpipes played before we finished our bracket. It was like a cat had scratch you in the ear but it is Ok on their own or playing together in the same key. That means the notation is in the same cord or it sounds sweet and not like a fingernail on the blackboard. GWAD how many remember that lovely sound. Tried to buy chalk to do some signwriting on some varnished boards today and went to that many shops it was not funny. Finished up in a $2 shop.
Regards
Brian

Re: External Speakers for TV.
Well... bought the required cable from Jaycar, $17, two plugs on one end for the earphone & one for the AV but it didn't matter which plug was in the single TV headphone jack - nuthin' worked.
So, being a typical male I then got out the instructions for the radio. Struth... this must have been originally written in Hundu then cross dressed into Afghani before some Japanese persona had it transcribed into some long forgotten dialect which ultimately got dug up & rebooted into Swahilli. Either that or some smart arse technical boffin wrote it but left every 2nd word out & substituted them with hieroglyphics!!
So, just to decipher all of the above... I couldn't get the crappy ting to work - & - even the 18 old grandson had a look, pressed a few buttons then said... "Get an iPad!!"
A pity really coz if it works the present speaker system would be fantastic.
I'm sure it's just the modern day technicality of it all that has me confused - it's sorta happening more often these days
so think I'll just pop out & try some computer speakers in the short term.

Re: External Speakers for TV.
Chuck can you work through the connections needed for us?
Most TV's have a standard 1/8" (in old speak) earphone plug hole.
Grab any portable earphones off any 'gadget' & see if it firstly kills the builtin speakers and secondly you get sound in the ear pieces. Most mobile phones come with a cheap set for testing.

Re: External Speakers for TV.
OK... searching for some.
Right, found one & plugged it in the TV... initially no difference. Pulled the plug out & had a look... it is 'stepped' in diameter no doubt to fit various sizes so plugged it back in, pushed firmly & with a bit of wiggling managed to get sound in the earplugs & it did kill the TV sound. Is it worthwhile taking the newly purchased set back - along with the earphone set - & see if they have a different set with slightly larger plug size?

Re: External Speakers for TV.
I don't think it's going to work.
This is THE recommended cable but notice the 4 contacts on the small plug end?
http://www.soundmaster.com.au/Kenwood-C ... ble/CAC3AV
Earth, left, right & picture.
The socket on the TV will most probably only need three contacts like on an ear piece.
Is this like what you tried?
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-5mm-Plug-M ... 3379576e09
(added) then connect the 2 together leaving off the Video one.

Re: External Speakers for TV.
No, the one I bought has only 2 pins on one end, presumably for L/R connections & a single on the other for the radio end... & they all appear to be of the same size.BruceS wrote:I don't think it's going to work.

Re: External Speakers for TV.
One 'pin' is always Earth. So that 2 pin one as you call it is a simple mono plug. (one channel sound)
So when you plugged it into the TV you were trying to connect 3 pins with 2 contacts.
I'd hate to see you damage the Kenwood?
Those two above should work connected together. I can't see one that does the job on it's own.
If you're real handy with a soldering iron you could construct one but it'd be painfull!
You need the 4 pin plug for plugging into the Kenwood & the 3 for the TV.
(pin as in contact surfaces)
