Small update, Was to pick up the refurbished head yesterday but they had sent the wrong valve seals so now maybe Monday, another bloody 200ks.
We have also found out that the block was originally a turbo as it has the turbo pistons and the oil squirters under the barrels.
I'm trying to source some non turbo piston before putting the engine together again.
Miserable day here overcast and light showers so doing more thinking today then working, have been cleaning bits but that's about it .
This engine was supposably a full recondition, but as I have it pulled apart you can see the original owner was ripped off the pistons have marks from broken valves and springs, I reacon they just put rings and bearings in and bugga all.
Plus the "A/Holes" are working on the local phone tower so reception here is crap...not happy Jan...
We are still working on getting under way in time for Taggerty, the big hold up will be the new intake pipes when and if I get them. fingers Xed.

Here we go again, I have the refurbished head now and we [Carol and I] have the pistons back into there respective holes in the block.
Old mate up the road lent me some tools ie ring putter inna and ring grove cleaner and stuff like that .
The head will probably go back on Thursday when I have some help from neighbours . Too bloody heavy by myself so help is needed .
I received my remade intake pipes and was not impressed [was pissed off] so took them back and they are going to be redone at no cost Fn@#@#@ aholes.
Over $500 so was less then happy. I think he got the idea.??
So we are moving ahead slowly fastly or reverse?
That's it for today, we are both looking forward to continuing our travels soon .
Bernie.

I had to use an engine crane to get the head off, out of the Mazda and onto the bench, then back off the bench, in through the Mazda doorway and back on top of the block, and it is only a 4 cyl  Half the rebuild time was spent navigating the head out and back to the Mazda. Hard to take when I remember I always did these jobs on my own when I had the workshop, even the Volvo truck heads when I worked for the Volvo truck mob, now I'm stressed lifting a battery out or carrying it more than a few feet.
Don't ya just hate it when they do a half @rsed job and expect big $$, then you lose valuable time suffer frustration and anguish to add to the insult trying to get it done correctly.

Well folks the engine is back in and running.
We had one of Terry's moments today. Won't say who but some one had put one pipe from the fuel filter the wrong way round , didn't that cause some angst.
But with the help from a cuppla neighbours we found out that I had done a boo boo, bugga now ya know who I was talking about.
SOOOOO with a bit of luck we will restart our journey in the morning .
See some of you's soon.
Bernie and Carol.
