I'm near port Arthur, the sat is supposed to be NE of here at 43 deg altitude and my internet sat faces NW. Not a great day yesterday, our drummer fractured her wrist and my earthmover stopped with a load on it. Will have another go at the sat today after getting the earthmover going and it looks like rain.
Will try that Dirk, will check the leads today and see if they are faulty. Thanks all

Try closing your eyes and think about something else.

Give this one a try when you get a moment, http://www.satsig.net/maps/satellite-tv ... ealand.htm Not saying its any better than the Grey Nomads list but this was the first one I found and it worked well first time around.

Or you could use the wikicamps ap which calculates the info you need from the exact spot you are standing on.

Use the Satfinder App on your smart phone to "see" where the satellite is. Good starting point.

Re: Digital tv signal meters
From all the info everyone's given me, seems I'm looking in the right direction, but the hill in front of us may be to high to get a signal, or the wiring is faulty. May also have to put the dish onto the solar panels platform, it sits on top of the glass house 3m above the ground, which should lift it high enough to get over the hill. Only want to check it out and watch some footy games we don't get down here for some reason.
Got the earthmover going then it started to rain and hasn't stopped, so will wait until it stops raining to check it all out. Been trying the earthmover out on veggie oil and have yet to get the settings right for the filtering, so blocked and an in line filter and had to bleed the system. Much prefer Di engines to iDi, easier to bleed, but iDi runs better on veggie oil.
Don't have any apps on my phone, yet to find a need. Don't even know if my hone has a gps capacity. But will check it out.
Thanks again.

Re: Digital tv signal meters
If you get a bit of water pipe and set it up at the same angle as the dish, (eg: 40*) then look through the pipe. If the hill is in the way which would be unusual according to the satellite sellers, (they reckon there are no hills mountains that are high enough to block a signal here in Oz) you will see the hill in the pipe. If not all should be OK and its faulty gear.
