Camec drop down table (outside)

Post by possum52 »

Hi all,
well yesterday I fitted my new Camec picnic table that Santa brought me, to the side of the van :D :D
Can't wait to test it out with a few beers and a couple of plates sitting on it
I think it definitely needs that non slip matting in it though! Would want a beer to slide off
Anyone else get something new for their rig?
cheers
Gary

Gary can you tell us how much they are to buy?
Yours looks like fibreglass to fibreglass but how do you think it would go attached to a metal side of a bus?
Is it sealed with a rubber when fitted or can moisture get between the two surfaces?
I love the idea as there's no need to find a place to store it inside.

If you run a thin bead of sikaflex around the tray before you rivet it on it will stop any moisture from getting behind and damaging the van as well as helping to attach the tray to your van.

If you don't want to use sikaflex to seal behind it you could use the door seal stuff that's a small stick on rubber tube ,not the foam stuff,

G'day Bruce,
Mine was $268....apparently they were on special a while back, not sure about now.

Hi Bob n Bev,
yes its the one described in Jim's link. You could either use self tappers or pop rivets to fix it to your wall. I think there are about 12-16 fixings required. You fix a backing plate to the wall, then the table to the backing plate.

It's going to be very handy for the BBQ stuff, drinks or just for a qick cuppa when having a "pit stop" :D

cheers

Three years ago, just before beginning our Big Lap, we bought one similar (different brand) & mounted it with a bead of silastic along the line of pop-rivet holes attaching it to our fibreglass sandwich wall, then another line of silastic to seal around the outer edge. Ours came with a metal fill-plate to cover the pop-rivet heads inside the table mount. That was also mounted using adhesive silastic. Looks neat. Ours has a raised lip around the edge of the tabletop, so no fear of anything sliding off if we're not quite level, but we never park at such an angle that things will slide off anyway... upsets the fridge operation - and SWMBO when it's bedtime. :)
Sorry, no pix available.

Looks great I got the M.o.W.a.F. one for Christmas. Got to fit it now the big project is done. Lucky I have a good rivet gun from the 60s that dad bought.
I went to Jayco to ask where the studs were so I could at least get one. The guy took me and showed me how they do it. Sikaflex and quite a lot of it and lots of rivets. So I figure if they can do it I should have a walk in the park doing it.
