Dot, George should have asked the question while we were all together as there were a few there with the Victron's and could have shown him.

I have the Victron BMV-702 for which I paid $230, which also shows the voltage of my starter battery.

My Brian is a puddy tat but Catriana's is a human :) Peter I thought G did ask something about the low readings or it may have been the throwing of the re setable fuse? I told him I should have asked on here but you know how stubborn your species can be! So now he is into the research mode. Thanks guys for your input.

Dot I'll gladly take some time out to explain all the Victron monitors functions if desired.
I think it's EXTREMELY important to stress that it is ONLY a monitor. In other words it won't help charge the batteries etc, just help you understand what is happening at any given time.
Do you suspect some problems with your setup?

Bruce the monitor we have now is a vision 6 sinergex and only shows voltage despite re programming it many times with the assistance from Bainbridge tech , will check out the victron monitor prob the bmv700 and will surely tap your knowledge when we get home thanks. How is Mrs Bruce?

Dot,
The voltage for the batteries when the solar goes is around 12,7,
Is the voltage (12.7) just after the sun goes down, or awhile after the sun has gone down?

And, does it ever get higher than 12.7 during the day in full sun?

Also, what type of batteries?

Also, what type of batteries? AGM's 2 x 200ah

What is the capacity of the battery charger and is there full sun on the panels? Just trying to calculate a rough figure for the charging current (amps) to see if the 13.8v represents approaching charged or simply charge saturation causing the current to be reduced by the chargers. The fact it reached 13.8v in half an hr doesn't indicate much on its own without knowing a lot more information.
The Victron 700s or 600s will give you all the information required and allow you to see at a glance how much is remaining in the batteries as far as genuine capacity and how much you have left to use before you need to recharge.
