Good onya Shirley, talk about putting a bloke on the spot. Because we are both on the full time employed list we don't get away for much longer than the weekend, most of the time anyway. Canungra and Maleny Showgrounds ticks a lot of the boxes but not free and no dump point.
Some of us went to Atkinson Dam Scout Camp a few years ago (AM organised it) but that was a pay site as well. There aren't that many decent free camp sites in SE Qld that come close to ticking most of the boxes. I will put a bit more effort into the thinking bit. :D
Cheers

Have a vague recollection of galvanised shed toilet block, but don't remember if there were showers and/or if they were functioning and don't recollect there was potable water either???

Experience is a wonderful thing. It helps you recognise a mistake when repeated.

No it does not Shirley, However, a gratis site allows for flexibility to stay longer or indeed, leave early without disadvantage of paying for stay not used.

Room for 100 rigs on level ground, and there are always 30+ rigs there any night during Winter.

So easy to send them to the knackery when they are no longer required, but way easier to give them another great life and so much pleasure to others. Good on you Dot well done.

Gensets were allowed - down the hill in the back blocks which was a fair hike to the shower.
They were having trouble with the amenities - think it was over use and the poor ol septic could not cope which put me off.
Hopefully all that has been rectified.

Yes, if you want the facilities they are closer to the 'no generator' area. In a mixed group, some will want/need generators, others won't. Some will want facilities , others won't. Once an area is chosen for 'happy hours/community events' then you can stay in the 'no generator' area and walk to the events, or choose to walk to the toilets (100m).

There is a great wetlands walk next door. The beauty of this area is that the Community welcomes you, it only has one pub and a general store (very limited).
There are Crocs in the river and some Baramundi they haven't eaten yet.

The Dam Fine Rally is on at Townsville in early July, so at least 1200 CMCA Members will have moved North by then. There are great free camp stopovers on the way, like Gympie, Caliope, Theebine Hotel, Petrie Park, Torbanlea, Marlborough, etc, etc, so a safari could be organised from say Texas, North or earlier by the Mexicans:)
