Tilting panels for Winter.

Hi, all.

Mrs shonky is in NZ for a month, which gave me some spare time to play with my 4x140amp solar panels.

If our bus, now officially called The Doghouse, is pointing North, which is the ideal bearing for domestic installations, I now have all panels mounted on hinges and merely tilt the panel which is facing North. So if we're pointing at right angles to the sun or directly North/South I merely tilt the required panel at 45degrees when setting up camp, and drop it before leaving. ( Very important!) Now the good bit - if the bus is pointing North-East, South West, whatever, I tilt the two required panels and the input is excellent. All one has to do is go up the side of the bus, not on the roof, undo the two or three screws required and tilt the panel - I've made up props with flat alloy, bent a bit, and have screw holes to fit in the hinges as required.
Note each panel only tilts in one direction.

Almost forgot - I'm trying to track down the bloke in Beenleigh who sells thermal paint. Can anyone assist? Some grub's been on the roof and made a hell of a mess.

BTW, a while ago we travelled North from the "Town with no pub"which asks that "camels must be on leads"on the local caravan park dunny, to the "Pub with no town" which has angle parking - any angle. Now I can't find my trip notes. Can you assist? ( I bet Bruce S splits this post.)

Take a trip out to Duck Creek you might find some really nice opals.

Shirley - nice one indeed, most impressive. We're currently in Townsville, and regret Mrs shonky only found one superb opal at the Sunday markets. Cost me $35 including the bit of leather string for her neck.

I would recommend It's so Cool over Thermo shield, I have used both and the It's So Cool and Permalon (sp?) clear coating that goes over it to seal out the dirt is way in front as far as heat block and staying clean.... and doesn't come off in lumps and sheets like the other stuff
