Must admit that at times I really miss the Coaster - especially when the front wheels on the new van spin and the rear is anchored in solid.
If my SWB Coaster was a LWB and had an internal shower, we'd still be in it as I just loved the layout and appointments I had. Being bullet proof without worry that I was going to scratch it made it easy on the nerves too.

Things I would miss without the new van especially those in Capitals:

CRUISE CONTROL
QUIET (Coaster was noisy even with 50mm engine insulation)
Comfortable seat for the passenger (could have been done)
Air Con (Coasters was stuffed and needed a new compressor - fixable)
Better insulated van (Coaster had none except that useless fire hazard fluff in the roof)
Power (the 3.4 litre 4cyl diesel Coaster motor with a TOTALLY useless 4th gear ratio was gutless on hills - lots of second gear work)
9kg LPG (can't capitalise metric units unless written out fully)
Better head height
Roof vent
Better fuel economy
More distance (km) is possible because of increased comfort and less effort required
SINGLE WHEELS IN REAR
Reverse cycle house aircon.

Probably others and I'll list if they come to mind.

dawg (it's just dawned on me that there is an aspect of "good times" memory association with the ol Coaster 8-) )

Thanks for all the input folks. I am still pretty happy with the Coaster and like the idea of being able to get into the smaller spaces, but I am not to excited about the east west bed. SHMBO is starting to get a bit vocal about the difficulty climbing down into the passenger seat.
Cheers

Hey David, guy has just posted trip to the Top on " Free & Low Cost Camps Australia Group" great commentary & pics., in none other than a LWB Coaster, as I posted can go heaps of places in a Coaster. :o :o

Think you need to fit another one out with singles or nth.,sth., bed.

Just had another look it is a SWB Coaster, still great achievement, go Coasters.

Go for it. They don't make better than Isuzu.

Took our 1990 Coaster from Innamincka to Birdsville via the Outside Track (follows the border on Qld side).
Doubt ANY Winnie (even on an Isuzu chassis) would survive that track!!!
Couldn't call it a 'road' by any stretch of imagination!!
Regards & God bless,
