PeterH tour

Post by pet-els »

Hi,
Just a note to let you know I'm still around.
After leaving The Pilliga Bore I went to Moree for 1 night then Dalby in Qld. then Kingaroy for three nights before going to Goomeri for the Pumpkin Festival. left there and down to Jondaryan for 1 night and then to Toowoomba and stayed at a friends place for 4 nights. Had lunch with Allen & Joyce Lawson, Keith Beer, Gene and Faye Lucas [all of Cape York fame].
Off then to Chinchilla and stayed with more friends at the football grounds for 4 nights then ??? don't know yet. But here is what I did yesterday.

Left Chinchilla Qld, at 0630 today in a low loader semi and went to a Gas rig out back of Roma picked up 3 mobile pipe welders and delivered them to Dalby. Then changed trucks [for a near new Scania 760hp auto, low loader] for tomorrows run to Injune Qld and pick up something and bring it back to Dalby. My thanks to Craig Wolski [sweep on the Cape York Safari].
Great drive, all OK.

blimey Peter you will turn into a pumpkin if you don't slow down, making up for lost time I guess. That was a great day you had in the trucks though.

I did indeed BobR.
He showed me a book he had written and Yes I'm in it. Back in the days of racing a Nota vehicle.
At present I'm at Boomi for 12 days the waters are 38oC and very inviting.
On Saturday I will be going with the locals [by bus] to the races at Garah 43k south.
It is raining here, started yesterday and has been all night. If it keeps up there will be no races.

Did the donkey 5ér driver say how far he travelled a day with his rig? The ex father in law was one of the last of the great drovers, Stewie Noonan, he had a rubber tyred horse drawn wagon and travelled from nth Yathong Station near Jerilderie up through the centre and back down through SA, took him 2 1/2yrs but he sure collected a few stories along the way

He had Clydales [sp] before they drank 72L water when thirsty.
