Hi, all.
BernieQ -looks like a great trip and hope you enjoy yourself. One question though, on a daily average of 27km, how long would it take?
See you on the back roads,

Re: Planning next trip
Theodore is a lovely free camp spot at Junction Park, good amenities, Good meals at the pub and the Bowls Club, no pharmacy in town so bear in mind if you need prescriptions filled.
another good campsite is at Theresa Creek (as different to Theresa Dam) on the Rubyvale - Clermont Rd.
Not many stopping sites between Clermont and Charters Towers the road is good but has steep shoulders and very few places to get off the road.
Wish you good travelling and enjoy.
Another good spot worth keeping in mind is Fletcher creek, 42 Km north of Charters towers (Lat 10 48 57 S, Lon 146 15 15 E) there are toilets and showers on the right over the bridge, though I consider the better campsites to be on the left before the bridge

Ta 'BOSS' but it was the dirt section I was more interested in, I think there's some where over 30 Ks of it.

Bernie, be aware that Fletcher Creek while a great camp site can be VERY popular

Hi Bernie,
the road from Theodore to Eidsvold wasn't all that bad other than one section of about 5 km that was bad, rest of it was reasonable, back in Oct last year.

Re: Planning next trip
I found the rough sections Bernie !! (in street view)
I'd hate to meet a roadtrain on that road!
Considering you probably have a very long detour I think maybe make it a slow steady day trip. Perhaps let your tyres down 10psi & stay under 70km/hr......... admire the scenery.........
Oh........ put your false teeth under your pillow too.........
Guess you can really, truly call it a "shake down" trip?

Re: Planning next trip
One advantage of that road is that you don't see many road trains, or much other traffic either, the old townships along the way could be worth a look with I believe a reasonable campsite at Cracow, But unfortunately we had to keep going looking for a pharmacy that stocked the medication SWMBO required, ended up at Gayndah before we could find one.admin wrote:I found the rough sections Bernie !! Thanks Bob, we have Dululu on our places to drop in, we haven't marked it as a overnighter but things could change.
If we don't like where we have set our place to stay we just move on.
We are generally off the road by 2/3 Pm.
So what was Dululu like worth a stop?
Its only 70 Ks from Baralaba might be a bit far for Shonky.
