Literacy? Uh, What's That?

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Literacy? Uh, What's That?

Post by Greynomad »

 Prepare to shed a tear!
I weep for the next generation... they won't even be able to read their own written communications!
The text below was included in the 'Comments/Reviews' section of the Apple website for a Bluetooth keyboard.
It was NOT typical of the comments posted... fortunately.
(I know I'm setting myself up for some rude comments from the Windoze camp! )
I reproduce the text exactly as I copied it from the website.

im a middle school student and bought this idem for my eassy's and homework assiments and this is perfect for an ipad(which i saved for and bought my self). im writing this review with it write now this deserves 5 stars and the batteries came with it already in it. you just have to type in the code on the scrrent that pops up press enter and boom youre using youre wireless keyboard i love all apple products and just use this one. it might sound like a lot of money for a key board but trust me its useful
==============================
I hope the kid spelled better in his 'eassy's' and 'assiments'... and used some capitals and punctuation!
Regards & God bless,
Ray

It's sad isn't it. The next generation probably won't be able to write with a pen, but they will be able to text at warp speed and play any amount of electronic games.
There was a piece on TV last night about kids getting RSI of the thumbs from over use already.
I know I am not a literary genius but I can read and write. I just don't follow verbal instruction very well because I am a bit deaf. That is a result of huntin'shootin'fishin' when I was young and of course playing with motor vehicles that had less than satisfactory exhaust systems.
Cheers

My iPad has spell checker.

Kids today carry on a conversation with you whilst texting to someone else at the same time.

Certainly are George but most teenagers have iPhones or equivalent it amazes me how parents can afford kids today.

Experience is a wonderful thing. It helps you recognise a mistake when repeated.
