Camping areas good or bad that you have news on. Be careful not to leave yourself open to a slander suit!!

Route advice

Post by Busman »

Hi all,
I would like any comments you care to make on a couple of possible routes. We are going to attend our first rally at Albany, leaving in a week or so, and have a couple of choices for the first part of the trip.

We will be travelling in VP, a 12.5 mtr coach with enclosed trailer behind, making about 19 mtrs in all, so please bear this in mind if you comment. I am primarily looking for things to avoid (really steep, or tight corners etc) but campsite advice will not go amiss if you have been this way recently.

1. Dalby, Moree, Gilgandra, Nyngan, Broken Hill, Peterborough, Port August, Ceduna etc.
2. Toowoomba, Warwick, Glen Innes, Inverell, Moree, then same as 1.
3. Same as 2 up till Glenn Innes, then Armidale, Tamworth, Gilgandra etc.

Reason for the Glenn Innes excursion is another half with rock fever, there is a sapphire dig or something she wishes to puddle in.

Would appreciate any comments you would care to make

Cheers

All I can say is avoid Toowoomba like the plague steep steep and steeper (no one told us that) Plenty of good open spots along the way. Enjoy the adventure, get the winds right for the Nulla crossing.

I think I'd leave the rock hunting for another trip and go out through Dalby, Goondiwindi etc etc
Still a few hills before you get to Dalby but take it easy & drop a gear BEFORE you must & coast up them.
Yep, No 1 for me!
Or?
Down through Brisbane at night, slow steady trip up Cunningham's Gap, Warwick, Goondiwindi etc etc
Enjoy your trip!!

Agree with Bruce, #1, shouldn't have any problems there... enjoy the run.

Definitely the first option seems the better of your suggestions. There are a few big hills before you get to Dalby, but we did the Queensland section with the 18ft jayco a month ago and the roads were surprisingly good.
