William. When we crossed about 3 months ago Our denning much the same weight as you trailer much the same. Slightly bigger fuel tank 800 liter. We put 200 liters in at eucla just to make sure and that easily got it to kalgoorlie without it would have done ceduna to Norseman no worries steve

Roughly 1.4km/ltr, not bad economy for a GM, what engine are you running? When I worked for Road Master Haulage, the contractors were happy if they could average 1km/ltr out of there 8V92TA on the Sydney/Brisbane return run and part of that was emptymarashkar wrote:William. Terry it has a 692t 6 speed spicer average economy around 2.5 on the way across very hard to get it exactly as to fill to the same amount in tank has to be perfectly level ( very hard) I do not drive for economy It is limited to 100 and that's where I sit all up weight 20 and 1/2 tonne

Is your GM a DDEC unit, the computer controlled injection model, only ones I've heard of that get that sort of economy, even though it is only a 6cyl and not an 8 cyl the mechanical ijection model still liked to drink the fuel. Terry no ddec mechanical engine rated to 350 at full rebuild when it was converted. Your right about hills does not like them at all. The spicer is an overdrive box which makes a big difference about 1900 revs at 100. But you have to drive it at that no holding the accelerator on the floor lucky the nullarbor is flat apart from the hill in the middle steve

Not bad, I think the 8V92TA was only good for around 410hp so if you are getting 2.5km/ltr for a 350hp build you are doing ok. If you think the mechanical 6v92 was a struggle on the hills, you should have tried a DDEC model
A bit like the 1418 Benz, if you saw a hill in the distance the thing would start to slow down, a brick on the throttle and you walk to the top of the hill and wait for it, you couldn't stop for a lunch break because it had taken all morning to get to top gear

Terry 350 is about the limit of this one as it is right on it cooling ability

Me too, about the same weight. Email from Ray, was to do a farm stay but drove off the driveway, 2 farm tractors (HUGE f*&$kers) and 3 chains later he was out, spent the rest of the farm stay on the driveway !

Disagree about the 8V92 though, my mechs have a couple in line in a truck that puts out 2600 hp on nitrous.
We have been consistently getting around 3 k/l, and I put that down to not having to drive the fan which Davies Craig worked out used between 10 and 16% of the horses to drive. If you have a small spec motor like us, that's HUGE !

Anyone able to compute the diesel capacity of a tank 800 x 600 x 1000mm ?
