rooftop rattlers.

Post by dapope »

We probably need a new one...the bedroom one is fine, if a little noisy, but its icy cold however, the older dometic unit is struggling in the 40 plus at port heland. We have no room to put a splitty, the bins are not high enough, and being a rear engine, the back bumper is out, Whats the best rooftop unit, am looking at the air command cormorant, its reverse cycle, 3.5 kw output and draws under 6 amps at 240. Plus it has a respectable heat output, should all run off the inverter :)
Anything better?

See if you can find someone to regas the rattler with R600a, here is a link from Danfoss regarding using R600a http://www.nt.ntnu.no/users/skoge/book- ... Danfos.pdf that you can show the friggie if he does the same routine to change as people did about lithium  The R600a will help the cooling ability of the rattler and should quieten it down a bit as well.
If your system runs R410A at the moment, here is a You Tube link about regasing with R32 type refrigerants which is a HC type environment friendly gas.
