SteveW & Bron's sad news

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Many thanks to all of you for your kind thoughts, wishes and prayers - from Bron and Steve.

We held Simon's funeral service on Friday. The church was filled with people, a testament to the way he touched and influenced people throughout his life. At 46 years of age and after a 27 year struggle he still had his school friends who always kept in touch and who attended the funeral. Several of his carers from many years ago came as well as shop keepers from the Macleod shopping strip where he visited several times a day for a coffee - he used to buy cake, chocolate or ice creams from time to time but in the past year he could no longer eat these. People from his neighbourhood, who we hardly knew, turned up because he spoke to all of them every time he saw them. Of course many of our friends and relatives attended.

Simon had a very tough life in the beginning but his last years were happy and peaceful from a mental perspective albeit increasingly difficult from a physical and health perspective. His last 9 months, since he barely survived pneumonia in January - some of you were aware of it, were his happiest and held dreams for his future which, he would never realize. We knew his next bout of pneumonia would be unsurvivable because of the poor condition of his lungs - he did not know that so he continued to dream. He died with his dreams and we think he died happy - he would never have realized he was dying. We are comfortable in that he has been relieved from a very difficult life but sad that he cannot realize his dreams. We are very proud of him.

Next week we are taking his ashes to Adelaide. He will be laid to rest at Centennial Park Cemetery.
