Shirley I'm not sure the actual dam/resevoir is a NP?
There were quite a few campers there with dogs of all sizes & I'm sure you can't have animals in a NP.
While we never went or came from Nebo to the dam, I'm positive it would be a better way in without being a mountain goat but it is most likely a 'dirt' road so slow speed and caution on washouts would be needed.
We went in via the windy, steep road up to the lookout and then pretty good road from there on to the dam.
I won't bore you with the way we came out!!!
If you look at Collinsville you'll see we NEARLY went to Bowen to get out!! Glad we had a long range tank.

Well we have a couple of days to kill so we decided to duck over to the coast to evade the heat inland. (41 degrees)
Mackay has changed a lot over the years and we have had a good look around.
First stop was the HUGE Caneland Shopping Centre.
Multi story car park, 2 story shopping area and covers thousands of sq metres. A MUST see for any shopaholic!!
Coming into Mackay we drove through many young canefields. Harvesting has just finished for this year in this area.

I'm a bit worried about going south to Bernie's place though ......... thunderstorms with hail.
