NRMA Road Service Change.

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

NRMA Road Service Change.

Post by Kelvin12 »

Had occasion to ring NRMA to renew our road service. We were informed that our Toyotoa 4WD Prado was no longer covered for towing under the 'Classic coverage' due to its weight, (1.70 tare). Was told this change had been in place for a while but that they didn't notify the customer when paid on line or by replied letter but only when face to face by phone..... No idea how this would effect you if you were on the classic cover and needed a tow. An upgrade was need to the 'Premium coverage' to get the tow. Not a bad coverage with good options but of course a bit more expensive.

This new weight classification would cover most 4WD's and probably a few SUV's as well.

I'm still struggling with the kerb weight. Did you use 'ladies ' scales? What year and version?

I'm happy to be corrected but lots of ordinary cars would like to come in under 1500kg.

Also, if you are correct then surely your insurance company will be OK with the current policy. They can't have it both ways.

But a 6 cyl Commodore like mine (2005) is ..... Holden Commodore (VZ)
Curb weight 1,569–1,654 kg (3,459–3,646 lb) ....
Then a baby suki 4cyl would have to be a bit less surely? 4ft shorter, 2ft narrower, smaller wheels & one smart driver.... lol
