rear engine is the ducks nuts. Much quieter proceedingin a forward direction. Most of the ex perth transit buses appear capable of managing the freeways without any dramas, and keeping up with the traffic, so you should be good. I can vouch for a lead foot being a more expensive way to travel though, if you have the patience to travel slower than the 100k max, then your reward shall be in the fuel tank. :) We managed to reduce our range a lot by travelling at a a quicker version of the 100 k... head wind didnt help either

Jon I think that bus has a version of the same engine that was in the 1418 trucks. 6 separate heads? Possibly with a turbo added to get the extra horsepower over 185?
From memory it was governed at WOT at 2250.

My uncle used to say ducks nuts all the time and he never made it to WA.

A premature question I admit.

I just had vision of going up hills a barely walking speed.

Having driven her home yesterday through some hilly country and a bit over 200K's in distance in 38 C heat she performed well.

Took some reasonable hills at 70km/h without revving the guts out of her.

91km/h is top speed by GPS at around 2100, now I driven her down Albany hwy at even modest hills doesn't deter he much..

She is a real pleasure to drive, through the gears and handle well not bouncing all over the road.

Think I jagged a good buy .

Well done then. Make sure that you keep us up to date with the conversion, and as Dot always say, make sure there are photos.
