I just seem to remember seeing the caravans at the showground as we drove past, so it would have been the highway???

Nope really quiet here, can hear the trains in the distance but not a worry, is maybe 600 mtrs or so from highway, there is a rest area at the information place, we did see a couple of vans in there, maybe that was what you saw.

Would really love to know the idiots that mark these sites as suitable for big rigs. Several times now we have been caught out. They must have the idea they have a big rig if its a box on the back of a Datsun ute or something. Some of the suitable for big rigs are way to small for a smallish caravan let alone a bus. Same goes for the dump points, Albury at the railway station comes to mind, jammed in in the 90 degree parking bay area. No room to get anywhere near it without a very lengthy hose then you would be blocking traffic. Immediately beside this stuff up is a large area where coaches park overnight with tons of room. There really does need to be a serious rethink about these areas.

We had to visit Rockhampton a year or so ago, to have a windscreen replaced.
Phoned a CP to book in, telling them we were 13.5m long.
"No probs, we gotta site for yez. Give us your credit card number over the phone an the site's yours."
Arrived at said CP, threaded our way between some large trees (only just) and found the site was 10m long and mud from end to end!
Corner site next door was big enough and all grass, but covered with tradies' utes.
Asked manager if we could have that site instead.
"Oh, no. That's where our builders park while they're building our next lot of cabins!"
(Taking cabin:site ratio to 90:10)
Me: "So why can't we take the site and the tradies park on the site you've allocated to us?"
Her: "Oh, can't do that. It's too muddy."
Asked for a refund on the credit card & went elsewhere.

They can't understand the difference between 11mtrs rigid and 11 mtrs total length that bends in the middle like a car and caravan. Had that argument several times on the Caravaner forum with van owners, you might be able to reverse a van in there when your car and van combination is 11 mtrs long, but not without bending the rig at the towball..... some still didn't understand. Getting a big rig down a bush track can be the same problem, the bend is too tight and the trees too close on the inside of the bend
