Re: Greg and Dee' s meanderings
Ok, after a delightful drive and very short stay in Bingara, we are yard dwellers (again!) in Inglewood, and since I've now been diagnosed as having cellulitus in the finger that had had the operation, we have to stay here to make sure the ABs take effect before moving onwards and upwards. We have to be in Bowen by 6 April so we will have some pretty long days ahead of us (long days for us....we normally don't like to do more than 250 kms a day).
Our life just isn't boring!
Hugs to all
Dee

Re: Greg and Dee' s meanderings
Ok everyone, I guess it's time to do an update!
Since leaving Victoria, we've had a relatively uneventful trip to Bowen. Stopped in Sydney for a few days, spent some quality time with Mark, and Lisa, (who kindly put us up, once her bed was strengthened!!). Had some interesting, and tasty, vegan meals as Mark said he'd pay as long as they had no meat in them!
Then headed inland, as being Easter we felt we'd have a better chance of finding a free camp than if we went north along the coast. First stop was by a lake just past the Blue Mountains....last time we were there we only had two caravan neighbours....this time there were 96 camping families....no we didn't count them, ...a local told us. Even so, there was still plenty of room, and we camped close to the fenced dog park, so the dogs had plenty of space to let off steam.
Continuing north we stopped at Bingara, right by the river. We expected it to be busy so were surprised to find there were only a few other campers. The water was clean and cool, and running fast, so you can be sure the dogs enjoyed themselves. Than on to stay with friends in Inglewood, always a nice stopover. But this time I had to see a doctor as I have a nasty infection where I had my finger op...the rather yummy Sudanese doc said it was cellulitis so I am still taking very strong antibiotics. (And a week later it's worse so I have to do something).
Judds Lagoon was next, very pleasant but covered in green algae, so on we went after just one night, hoping to stop by a huge rock just past Springsure, but the Lions Club had it all dug up so no space, ....we were exhausted after over 400 kms, but went on to Emerald, and camped in the Showgrounds, where we were glad to have power as we needed the aircon on all night, it was so hot.
So we came to Lake Elphinstone, east of Mackay. It was quite busy when we arrived, the tail end of the Easter holidays and the weekend, but we parked up and had three relaxing days, people watching, and I should add that the lake is full of red claw....delicious! Loos are clean, showers ar cold only. Plenty of space, even if some d&&khead decides that the river frontage is his personal domain, walking in front of other campers and setting his redclaw nets! Another guy we met was catching about 400 in the morning and 400 at night! He gave me some to try.
So now we are in Bowen, settling into life on a caravan park for a while. I've just spent three hours in the hospital, with finally three doctors ruminating as to what was wrong with my finger...it is agony, swollen and red, and they finally decided, after X-rays, that they would change the antibiotics....now taking something that's for staph infections....and more wait and seeing!
In the meantime, I can't do any washing up.....
Cheers
Dee
