bedford Weir

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

bedford Weir

Post by Macca »

Having fun here- doing gardening, tidying a mess everywhere. Oh forgot to mention, we are the caretakers until the end of May. Been none here for about 6 weeks with council only coming out once a week to clean amenity block. Thank goodness they have arrived here to day with mower, whipper snippers , tree choppers etc.

How did you become caretaker Macca? Apply at the council? What is the situation for such caretaking?

We knew there was no caretaker when we arrived here so just rang the council & said that we would be happy to do the job until the end of May & they said yes. . We think that all we get is what ever donations are put into the box. Been here a week now & so far we have not seen any put in. Do not have the key yet to have a look but it is right beside out van & signs on the way in to report to caretaker. One guy yesterday who just parked & Bruce said last night that he said " Always free camp & never put a donation in any boxes" Has a real bad attitude. Huge area so he set up right beside another woman by herself & told her that she was in the place where he always parks!!!!!!

Be good to catch up Bob- see you . We are parked beside the caretaker's patio. He is still working here for the council but we were told he was asked to leave under certain circumstances!

Bruce the inquest results was on ABC radio last week. Sunwater has been advised to add gates to the weir but no more bags.
We were here the year that terrible accident happened. If you do not know the story, one of the "bags" broke allowing a flood of water to flow down to the causeway where a family was swimming & the 5 year old was swept away. She was found later that day. There is a memorial her on the bank to her.

That's a long time for an inquest to be held as this happened years ago.

Inquests can take up to years to be held. Maybe I should have used the word Inquiry but I am sure they said inquest. Apologies if I heard incorrectly!
