Gee busman, missed meeting you at Glen Innes. I bought a few rocks there too. I was there with my jewellery stall for the three days too and this weekend I was at Armidale " gem show" (bit of a fizzer it was too) and now it's just freezing cold at Armidale and we are leaving town in the morning.
Might meet you next year then?

Re: What do Members Collect
I have heard that some people collect spouses but those collections are very expensive.

Re: What do Members Collect
Hello Deborah,
It is my wife that is the rock nut, to me they are lumps of rock, to her it may be a piece of rare fossilised wood.
Didn't know you were ther, could have put a face to the dragon avatar !
Passed through Armidale, she noticed the signs for another show but I was going to fast to make the turn (my excuse anyway) as we had to be in Sydney for the weekend where she was doing some botanical art classes.
Back home again for a few weeks, then will have a look at our first rally at Bathurst, that will decide if we ever attend another one, don't like being organised much.
William

Don't cost much to collect. It's the tip fees that are exorbitant - apparently.Dot wrote:I have heard that some people collect spouses but those collections are very expensive.

Re: What do Members Collect
A real 'fly' in the ointment, eh George?

I collect old cast-iron, mainly ornaments & household stuff...
I have four boot lasts (various styles), coupla doorstops (a sheep & a kookaburra), coupla flat-irons, an 1850s nail-puller...
Looking for more.
All stay at home-base... too heavy to cart about. When moving from Melb I put them all into one sturdy timber crate. Took two fit & healthy young men to lift it onto removals van tailgate - and they only just managed to lift it that high!
Maybe I should have separated them into several crates.

Re: What do Members Collect
PS. I forgot the "Cat on a Roof" iron doorstop.
SWMBO has a much more genteel collection: Beswick China dogs.
4 Labradors (Lge & small yellow; Lge & small black)
2 Beagles (Lge & small)
1 Border Collie
1 Aust Kelpie ('Giving sheep the eye' pose)
1 Doberman
1 ring-in china Lab, a gift from SiL. (His back hinges up for earring/small trinket storage!)
