Hi, alll.
We just installed a new gas fridge after humming and haaing for a couple of years. It gets the beer cold enough, and yes the fridge is in the left side of "the doghouse". Question is, how many travellers manage without a genset? Ours has given us excellent service over the past three years for a $400 Evilbay 2kva special but it's slowly coming apart.
Almost forgot, I'm selling a couple of 125AH AGM's. Only used on Sundays for attending church.
Is my genset superfluous?

Hi, all.
bagmaker - we're in Boonah slowly heading for Tweed Heads.
Nasty hobbits, not nice to poor Smeagol.
Would you believe I suggested Mrs shonky read Lord Of The Rings, when she declined I offered to read it to her. Took three months.

Don't leave home without one. No one makes you use it but you never know when you'll need it.

Re: Is my genset superfluous?
The Kedron we bought in 2012 had 3 x 120aH AGMs and a 2 Kva Honda. We converted the van to 200aH Lithium plus 100aH Lithium in the LC for the Engel.
Bought a new (to us) van in 2014. Sold the Kedron with Lithium intact and the Honda as the new van had no space for the Honda.
Installed 400aH in the new van, still have the 100aH in the LC, making a 500aH Lithium system when connected together. No Genny for the last 18 months. Spend more than 6 months on the road, mostly free camping. No Genny needed.
Cheers
Lesley

Hi, all.
Swiss lulu - what's your daily amp draw? Ours has dropped to 50 after 150 with the compressor fridge.
SteveW - at a pinch firing up the Transit will give me heaps pf amps, yes, allowing for the higher fuel consumption

It's a bit like going into a bakery for a pie and they ask if you want sauce with it, the reply is a long the lines does the pie need sauce or is it good enough on its own? The same regarding the energy storage system, is it good enough on its own or does it need a generator to support it?
