Dirk, if you are near that boundary fence, just enjoy Echuca and Moama for a few days, lots to see and do. It's where I purchased my first white port. Don't join the others who have left some deep holes when bogged. No doubt you have already seen them with your water views. Regards, Hans

Re: Camp site Echuca
G'day Bruce,
Not all that much mud to drive through but the clay was the problem. Guess about 10m all up and level but slippery. Wheels spun a bit but got onto some gravel and past the sink holes. Moved camp to the Rotary Park camp area. Beautiful place and gold coin donation and NOW dog friendly and pretty much stay as long as you like within reason. Good dump point for a change where you can approach from any direction. Obviously sighted by the caretakers who are great people and know what they are about. Definitely a highly recommended site for self contained vehicles. Water available as well. No power but Rotary is working on it. We are about 2m from the river bank and bird life is brilliant.
Definitely a stop over on the return journey.
Thanks for the flood tip as well but at this stage we won't be going that far on this trip.

G'day Bagmaker,
Yep got to move next week for a few days. Event is 2 days duration, but will probably move on then anyhow. Normal crowd for the steam rally is 10K people. Had a look in the storage shed yesterday here at Rotary Park and there are some huge steam powered machines in there. Really old stuff and really interesting. Might not be healthy enough, (knee replacement coming up) to hang around for the rally this time but next year or the year after is a definite and we will be back for sure. Numerous stalls, camp cooking, displays of the old steam engines, vintage cars and wood chopping. Sound like an event promoter don't I.

Rally looks to be a huge event. Spoke to the park manager before leaving and he said they will get about 80 odd steam vehicles there over the weekend. Had a bit of a preview of what is there already and they are great. Some really old stuff that you would think would have been scrapped years ago. Marvelous how many stream engines have survived. HYopefully get to see it next year when the knees are fixed.
Hate to say it but should have taken Dots advice a couple of years ago. Probably be reminded about this forever now.
