fairbairn Dam

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Friends with the boat leave on Sat. but we are here until Tuesday- certainly need a rest after the past 10 days ! Mel & Rocky were the couple in the motorhome beside the fence on that day in 2012 & it is their boat.

Finally taking a breath and time to post on here.
We are currently in Rockhampton house sitting and intend to head out to Fairbairn in a bit over a week. Looking forward to having a go at the Redclaw - any hints?
Can't see any free camps at the dam so may have to do the unspeakable and stay at a caravan park!

Looks like we may be then heading northwest about the right time for the elphinstone gathering, and we have a boat :-)

Agree about Higher Ground - we were there the year after the big flood. About 3 weeks ago a couple went to Fairbairn & there was a lineup at the front to get in- they ended up driving out late to Bedford. Book if you can & not cheap but believe the redclaw are still in plentiful supply. We have kept some for Elphinstone!
Great, another 2 for Elphinstone.

Ended staying at Bedford and got enough redclaw to satisfy our curiosity. Elphinstone is out for us we're afraid - got a house sit in Darwin from 1st of August. Maybe next time.
