Gas gauge

Saw a real gas gauge at gas tester shop (Maxbilt), when getting bottle tested 9kg you can have the main components replaced with a unit with gauge with measuring components inside the bottle.

Not sure if we had the same thing, its in the bin, could not stop it leaking. But maybe we got a bad one.

This is not an attachment, it replaces the "tap" and connection components and inserts into the bottle.

Is that what you had?

I have a really accurate gas gauge: when the gas bottle is new everything works, when it gets to the empty position the BBQ goes out

Yup that's what I've got too.

Similar to my fuel gauge Rob....... only difference is instead of "going out" I get "you can bloody walk 'cause I told you to fuel up!"
If it's not that GPS in my ear it's ......... her!

Both my bottles had a gauge Russell, I never looked at them as they weren't that accurate. The best method is when all stops, the bottle is empty as previously mentioned. . When they came up for testing I opted not to replace the gauge.

Perhaps / model of the gauge may be of interest ,especialy since you say 'With a measuring component in the bottle'

The only component that I could imagine doing a TRUE contents measurement would be a "Float"

Are you sure you are not referring to the simple combined pressure & flow gauge "GAS FUSE"?? which has been around for quite a long time.
If so it gives little warning,until the gas pressure drops quite low ,due to little liquid being left!!

It is as Russell has stated and not a gas fuse. The gauge forms part of the valve assembly.

There was a 9kg gas ottle combined tap and gauge unit that worked on the same principle as the LPG tanks in cars, a float on a rod with a magnet on the end with a gauge and the opposite pole magnet on the end of the needle, the brass body of the tap is in between the two magnets. It works fine until metal shavings come through with thje liquid gas and get attached to the magnet, then they no work so good. The water splashed against the bottle is a fair indication but weight works well, those stick on gauges you pour the hot water on can't be left in the sun, it kills them
