Census Balls Up

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

I'll wait a few weeks, the 29th Sept is the final date to have it in before, I don't have a number to do it on line or a paper form.
The site suffered 4 serious denial of service attacks, they repelled 3 but shut the site down on the 4th attack as it was a much larger attack. A few other agencies were in on the monitoring thing so they will know where the attacks originated from and no doubt send them a surprise of their own at some later date.
It was a good exercise to prepare them for an on line election in the future, no doubt they will have learnt a lot and find ways to block such attacks in the future.

They never come near us for a census, most times we have been on the road, so never ever done one and never will. it's the same with lots of people in the bush we know, no one comes near them. Most of the homes near us are holiday homes, so no one lives there permanently and it seems they have given up on the area. Which has everyone cheering in our area and expect many others.

Don't trust anything politicians or senior bureaucrats say and they keep all you details for ever, otherwise they wouldn't know who to send out the letters to. The proof of that is we never get any at our home nor for those with post boxes at our local PO and as the government uses windows, who have the right to take any information they like from your computer and I like my privacy. Which is why we gave up windows and apple more than a decade ago and just love the freedom and stats of the art free and safe computing it gives us.

As we were leaving Emerald caravan park, they gave us a census form with number etc. They said to use it regardless of where we were going, no guarantees of a form at next stop. So I accepted the form, arrived in Anakie, set up the laptop and started to complete the form, just as I opened up the page, a knock on van door. Was the local census guy, he was happy for us to use the Emerald number, said it made no difference where we got the number as long as we only used it once. So finished it online by 3pm Tuesday, no problems.
I cant see how printing a thick form, sending it out to people with a collector, and then telling us to toss it in the bin after onlining it, how does that save the environment or money? They are up themselves if they think we are stupid enough to believe that trash.
Also, they gave us a receipt online for the completed thing, how does that really prove anything? if you posted it, did you use registered post to prove you sent it?
Just thinking out loud. xxx

Small country town syndrome . Our local post office doesn't have a hole big enough to put form in so has to be handed over inside, as we all know each other she can vouch for me posting it .
