Hi G
I think that the batteries may be dodgy, when I set mine up I had no real issues, the signals came through as expected, I have the tyre guard 400 system, six sensors on the M/H and four on the toad, it comes with the ability to sense up to 24 wheels, you have to follow the procedure deleting the tyre positions that are not in use, maybe you haven't got the sensor/wheel locations correct, that's about all I can think could be causing the lack of signal.
Cheers
Chris

On tubes Jon (split rims) also had to put valve extensions onto most of the tyres. (so he said) new batteries will be obtained tomorrow.

Yes I cover the red flashing light as its near imposable to set them as spot on . Found that when we first started to use them. I have repaired some that break the little battery holder. Put a small bit of cardboard in to hold the battery firm. and a small bit of garden hose over the valve stem to stop them vibrating..
