The boats cut out of flat metal interest me. Do they appear to have been mounted like a weather vane, or flag pole topper?

On closer inspection, there appears to be a repair to the sail.....and the bottom appears it may be a brass shell casing. Could it be trench art?

Yes 20mm shells Jon . No repairs just years of neglect good polish should fix .
I would say trench art .
There were more badges and stuff in the box I bought cost me $3 but I know what they are .(5 rising son hat and lapel collar/badges)

Thanks Bernie. I have some tiny wine goblets a wine bottle and a tray all made out of shell casings.
Today G&I went into town (Blackwater) to get some bits and bobs and to see about G seeing a Dr about this nasty cough but alas nothing today so tomorrow another trip into town. A bit of a weird layout but managed to find what we wanted. Went for a long walk around the camp spot, saw a few roos chomping on the nice lush grass. The boys were ever so good today, they helped a lady in distress. She had got her ute and trailer stuck in a big hole so off they went with the Chuckmobile Bruce's snatch strap and G to supervise and Kay to take the pic of course. Well they got her out alright but then she backs straight into another big hole so repeat procedure Hope I don't meet that woman on the road coming towards us:) Another lovely day comes to an end.
