Well that's a waste of money, Terry. You do realise that you have to drop your trews for the moon dance, don't you?T1 Terry wrote:and I just ordered a set ready for the moon dance

Have to make sure that the camera is fully charged for Easter.

Swisslulu,
I'm confused.
How can you drop your TREWS if you're wearing LEDERHOSEN?

Re: Ow much to have a Diesel heater installed
I installed my D2. Took a couple of days but I think I could do a second one in 5-6 hours. Depending on where it is going is the big factor, I think a pro could have done mine in maybe 4 hours.Swisslulu wrote:All I can say is that we are very happy with our diesel heater. As we have only had the van for a year, I guess there is still the possiblity that things may go pear shaped but, as this mod was done by the previous owner and he installed the same unit in his new van (am I repeating myself?) I tend to think it's satisfactory. We know a few other vanners who have had problems with their gas units cutting out shortly after ignition. I believe there is a mod that allows more oxygen (?) to stop the auto cutout they were experiencing. At this stage, if we were to build a new van, we would go for another diesel heater.
For the OP, lots of people do their own install of diesel heaters if they are moderately handy. A search on CF should bring up plenty of threads of how to.
Did I mention I love my diesel air heater, second best thing since sliced bread

Re: Ow much to have a Diesel heater installed
The smoke and smell and noise is external. The problem is, the exhaust is not over the roof, it's at floor level, so it really causes a problem. the issues are multi, fuel goes off, fuel waxes, injector clogs, igniter carbons up, exhaust get a water build up if not well installed, standard there is no filter on the air intake so dirt builds up, voltage drop causes poor ignition...... the list goes on. they are really designed to burn heating oil, not diesel, diesel leaves a lot of soot behind and is slightly heavier I think than heating oil. I know that if you mix 20% kero with the diesel they have less problems, a sort of winter fuel mix.
