Re: Congrats to T1 and Margaret!
It was sort of like camping, candles and torches because SAPower stuffed up as usual and disconnected the power for previous owners instead of simply taking a power reading and changing the account to our name. AGL promised they'd have it sorted Friday night.... then Sat morning, finally gave up a returned to the workshop and collected the Mazda, plugged into the inverter and lithium's and powered the house from there. Saturday was fine but today was a scattered cloud for quite a bit, so rather than risking missing the end of Bathurst we took Bruce & Wendy up on their offer of a generator loan..... the depths one will stoop to just to watch Bathurst, but there ya go eh
It couldn't run the TV, fridge and 25 amp battery charger so ended up still running off the inverter and plugged the battery charger into the generator. Ended the day only 60Ah down so that left plenty till tomorrow so packed the generator away to restore peace to the neighbourhood. Lucky they left a great BBQ along with the rest of the gear and that the tanks gravity feed enough to get a drink of water and refill the toilet, but the septic pump drags too much start up current to be left cycling, so one pump out each day seems to be ok

Re: Congrats to T1 and Margaret!
Just as soon as I get a break between jobs, then I'll build up a battery pack from the old damaged cells and switch the majority of the house onto off grid. The hot water service and 3 induction pumps might be a bit much for the initial set up, the 5 split system air con units might be the next ones to go off grid, then a modification to the hot water so it's solar and battery voltage back up, then the 3 pumps changed to permanent magnet type to eliminate the big start up current. Depending on how successful all that goes I'll go fully off grid at the house as a proto-type design for the off grid all in the container idea.Mrcoolabah1au wrote:So when do the solar panels go on the house![]()

Re: Congrats to T1 and Margaret!
We have power at the house, only took 5 days, govt type enterprises run at about that pace over here it seems. Apparently Margaret said the guy that came was very much on the large size so maybe he did need a lot of room to get to the powerbox ;lol:
Sent last night at the house with Margaret and Brian came back to the workshop to mind the fort, the 5ér in the workshop is 13 mtrs long and the workshop only holds 11 1/2mtrs, so we can't close the door, so we need a night watchman here each night till we can get this monster back outside. Wasn't ever a problem before because we lived here, now we have to rethink the whole security issue with Brian heading off on his house boat soon.

What a shame that homeless want to be home less again even if its on the houseboat cruising the murray and its tributaries o well such as life maybe have to buy next out some time to put more vehicles in and multiple jobs running at the same time

You might need to add a "lean too" on the side! Best make sure it will accomodate 4.3m high as well................T1 Terry wrote:We have power at the house, only took 5 days, govt type enterprises run at about that pace over here it seems. Re: Congrats to T1 and Margaret!
The height isn't an issue, never thought length would be an issue till this monster showed up
A major rethink might be in order with the containers stacked 2 high along the fence and a roof back to the workshop so we can work on them out of the rain at the moment but out of the sun in a few weeks time
