They never had time to write their names!!
The blue dish was one of those outside washing up plastic 'bowl'. It didn't really show the size of them. Told Wendy to put her hand in for comparison purposes..... I got told ....
They must be coming up out of black mud. Never seen them so black! One moult & they'll clean up.
No females with eggs yet either.

And so you should have, I could tell you what to put in to compare them with but I won't,

Strange that, in most photos I take it appears I only have one finger and that is some where over the lens, don't think 2 fingers would fit and still be able to see there was a photo :?

This morning I caught a thief trying to pinch yabbies or shrimp out of a yabby pot.
Can anyone please help identify it?
It has smaller scales than a carp. Forked tail. No teeth at all. Very distinct silver in scales and head.
Sorry the photo isn't too clear & it's too late to take another shot ..... it might be in Brian,s belly by now!!
If no-one can help I might send the photo to the Fisheries & the museum.
Last time I caught a strange fish only the museum could help me.

Not really Bernie. It's mouth is sort off parrot shaped but isn't hard at all. It is also not floppy mouthed like a carp. No barbells. (whiskers)
I'm going up the storage later & will grab my BIG fish book.

Long as that's all you grab...at first glance I thought it was a silver perch .

http://agriculture.vic.gov.au/fisheries ... lver-perch
No lateral line.
Much more forked tail.
Less snout ... more like a parrot fish but soft mouth & no teeth.
