My newest toy

Post by Greynomad »

Found this at the local service station, of all places.
It seems everyone is selling bits & pieces for our phones.
The black & white box is my (now) old powerbank.
The new toy is the USB/iPhone cable.

Without power, nothing unusual... BUT...

WITH power, it lights up. BUT that's not all...

The colour 'bleeds' down the cable!!

The cable at the power source continuously cycles through the whole spectrum between red & blue and back again, which travels in sequence down to the phone plug. A bit like those solar-powered colour-changing garden lights. And it works regardless of whether it's attached to my phone or not (as you can see -- no phone attached)!
(The 'powered' pix are slightly blurred if you enlarge them, because my camera has difficulty focusing in dim light :( )

Simple: I just unplug it when I don't need it.
I have a 'normal' 240v charger (unlit) by the bed to charge the phone overnight.
The Funky Monkey lead is reserved for those times I need to carry the powerbank. And it's left unplugged until it's used. It does put a slight drain on the powerbank's battery.

Bugga, my phone isn't "smart" enough to need any of those things, the 30 min charge lasts for 3 days so carrying a spare brick to keep the "smart" brick going doesn't get a look in..... I must be really behind the times it seems ;)

Yeah,
Powerbanks are now about 1/3 the thickness of my antique (18mths old!)
Marginally thicker than the phone itself.
Must update it...

The cable is such a hoot, I bought another one for the car-charger plug!
Nothing wrong with the old one... it is just a boring black-insulated wire. :(
