 Thank you Gordon & Wendy, it was great having you both here. Seems we may have stumbled upon something I hypothetically pointed to being a potential problem many yrs back.... and got laughed at as usual  It seems there was nothing wrong with the inverter itself, it powered an induction fan motor for 8 hrs at a constant 210w with no problems, it appears the problem was a clash of inverter technology. One inverter fighting the other or a cross over of frequencies.... or something like that. We fitted a different model inverter, also from Jay Car, not a problem, we connected Bruce's power meter and the highest draw was 120w during a defrost cycle, apart from that it maxed out at 90w, certainly within the capacity of the original 360w inverter.... but after 10 mins running the compressor increased speed and the inverter flashed an over load and shut down after 3 mins, yet it was still cold to touch. We ran the fridge off the mains over night to allow it to get past any initial temp pull down problems, reconnected the 360w inverter.... same problem. So, the 400w inverter we replace it with is a serious over kill, but one upside was the USB charging port, a lead run into the van and all the computers and phones can now be charged from this inverter rather than firing up the 2000w inverter for the job saving a further 20Ah or so per day

In need of some advise. I have just pulled the dometic gas fridge out and there is that horrid fibre insulation stuff lining the walls inside the cabinet.

I want to remove it. The samsung fridge should not need this insulation?

Cheers.

You will need to remove any insulation on the sides and make sure there is an air gap up each side as the new fridges dump the heat through the walls, not up the back in a condenser coil like the old fridges.

Removed it all. Trial fitted the samsung, looks good there. Will have to make a surround for it.

Sits rather high, it's fine for me but will need to wait until the wife comes home from work to see if access into the freezer is ok for her or not as she is shorter.
There's not much i can play with in regards to lowering it in the cabinet as the water pump and pipes etc are all underneath.

How loud are these suppose to be? It's not as loud as the Westinghouse we have in the rental house but still reasonably audible.
