No.... just scoop them up ... they are dead everywhere.
Can't be very good to eat because even the seagulls & pelicans screw their noses up at them!

Can anyone please help identify it?
It has smaller scales than a carp. Forked tail. No teeth at all. Very distinct silver in scales and head.
Sorry the photo isn't too clear & it's too late to take another shot ..... it might be in Brian,s belly by now!!
If no-one can help I might send the photo to the Fisheries & the museum.
Last time I caught a strange fish only the museum could help me.

OK, I had it identified as a Bony Bream.
Seems there are tonnes of them in the Lower Murray and never catch them via line.

Thankyou FishSA ....
What bait do you use to catch a Bony Bum?

I thought it chrome plated grease nipples and double reverse twin cam overhead door hands, and twin fox tails on the aerial, the bait was a catch line something real cool like, "G'day, owyagoing, do yadoit" and fortunately it was 1975 so I can remember some of that  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yXinPYK-Jk

OK T1,
So my memory is not as good as a Google search.

Still, a fun song.

And as I was born & grew up in Newcastle, it was on high rotation on local radio stations... even though I'd left town eight years earlier. Every time I came home for a w/e it was blasting from my radio. :D

Had the whole album on a cassette tape that auto looped and played through headphones in my motorbike helmet, so the words to all the songs on the album are sort of burnt into the brain. I knew it couldn't have been the 60's cause Bob Hudson was an announcer on 2JJ for a while and that sure didn't exist in the '60s, I only turned 15 at the start of the '70s so 60's music was the Beatles etc to me
