Re: KTA - just a matter of time...
The only problem is that insurance companies are bad bookies, they love to take the bet but don't want to pay out when the time comes
It will be 13 yrs since my MVA and NRMA still won't pay up on the green slip insurance that is compulsory in NSW

A person may fail many times, they only become a failure when they blame someone else John Burrows

Re: KTA - just a matter of time...
Some years ago, after Casino Village sold out to Big 4, I posted that it had become "just another caravan park (note: not motorhome park).
I was comprehensively flamed.
One resident even accused me of causing a drop in their house values!
Well, with the wisdom of hindsight, I'm gunna do it again.
Having been sold to Allianz (yes, I know it was called a 'merger' or some such poppycock), KTA has become 'just another insurance agent'.
Our treatment at the hands of their new Claims Manager, Mark, was 'ordinary' to say the least. And on more than one occasion - both in emails and on the telephone - I was left with the distinct impression that he regarded me as a PIA for asking for details of what was happening in the transport of our motorhome, toad and trailer from Perth to Rutherglen.
I received more info - and courtesy - from CEVA, the company contracted to do the job.
The only time KTA has initiated contact has been after CMCA got involved following my initial posting here... and that enthusiasm waned rapidly.
I recently posted six questions to Mark via email. He has answered three... and I am STILL waiting for him to advise me of a tracking number so we can check where our vehicles are and a likely delivery date.
The m/h arrived a couple of days ago without warning (except for a phone call from the truck driver to advise he was a couple of hours away) and it was CEVA who just phoned to advise the toad will arrive tomorrow... not KTA as would have been the case when KT himself was CEO.
And I have no idea where the trailer is or its likely appearance date in our driveway!
Like I said... just another insurance agent...
I will now don my fireproof jacket & trousers.........

Re: KTA - just a matter of time...
BTW, JohnM posted that KTA was the only firm who would insure a toad while it was being towed.
Wrong.
Avida RV Club has a broker who will insure the toad while under tow - trailer included too.
If you have a purpose-built motorhome, as distinct from a conversion of a bus etc, you can join the Avida RV Club and take out their insurance, regardless of who manufactured your m/h.
And they have quoted me $400 under KTA's renewal price for the m/home/trailer/toad combo, despite just making a major claim on my KTA policy.
I have read the detailed policy document
and it is virtually identical cover to KTA's. And Avida RV Club members receive an automatic upgrade on contents cover from $1,000 to $10,000. With KTA that costs extra.
The usual disclaimer: no beneficial connections etc. Just an unhappy KTA customer.

Made our first claim with KT this morning, our awning was damaged in a freak storm at Cobar last Tuesday, I reported it to KT Wednesday and was given a claim no and told to get a quote to repair it. This morning I contacted Dario Caravan Repairs, after arriving home last night.
They wanted photos and claim no emailed, had a phone call about 2 hours later from Dario's, the claim had been approved with in 6 minutes of them lodging the quote.

Must say when we had a claim they KT were very good but as with everything I guess there will always be a "lemon" service just a matter of who gets that lemon.

A word of warning. You might find that your excess for the awning is the same as if you totalled the motorhome. We lost an awning in a storm and because it was a motorhome and not a caravan, the excess was almost equal to the cost of the new awning - not to mention losing no claim bonus. We didn't claim.Boblebago wrote:Made our first claim with KT this morning, our awning was damaged in a freak storm at Cobar last Tuesday, I reported it to KT Wednesday and was given a claim no and told to get a quote to repair it. I always feel that if you aren't happy with a store, company or whatever...then don't deal with them.

When I rang KT the bloke told me that the excess would be $200 and have just checked my policy and it states basic excess is $200.
Rang KT and checked, lose rating 1 for 2 years premium goes up 20% so all up should only cost $600 and the quote to replace awning is $2223.10
