Re: saved space
Does it have an alternative method of securing other than the winch chain. I towed a hired car trailer that had the spare mounted up under the draw bar up front. Spare broke away and got fouled up under the front axle, (tandem trailer) the wheel managed to dig in and go vertical and lifted the trailer of the ground and wound up flicking the trailer sideways across the road. Luckily no one was coming in the other direction. Got the same set up under the front of my bus but it has studs and nuts holding the wheel secure. Going to be a real PIA in the event of a flat especially in the wet but its secure.

Re: saved space
I have a spare carrier and winch which was attached to the chassis of my Bedford. I moved my spare to a carrier on the back so that I don't have to lie down in the mud to get it out from under. Anyone want my discard? I could probably supply photos.
