Newcastle Caravan Show

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

The Adelaide one is on this week and we don't go any more, last years was the same ol and yes I thought there was less there but the entry fees were up.

Yep, same old exhibits and $15 entry, I reckon I'll miss the next one or two.

Costs of running these shows and events and becoming exorbitant and those costs are being passed on to both exhibitors and the public.
I believe small sites for displays can be well in excess of $30,000 and that puts many of the smaller manufacturers and sellers out of the game.
More cost and fewer exhibitors to pay those costs will pass more on to the public and many are saying 'Too Much' and staying away.
The likes of Jayco and other big businesses will still be involved and take advantage of the lower competition level.
We haven't been to an RV show for about 6yrs and probably won't be to another one.
Sorry Phil, can't give any impressions from the Newcastle show.

I know I've long since been happy to pay for entry to a shop.

It was too hot to be wanting to be near a whole lot of mad people trying to flog their latest caravans that all seem to be exactly the same as the caravans that they were flogging last year, and the year before.
We have gone in previous years, but last year, we swore that it would be our last for a long time. Just found nothing that we either needed or wanted to buy and the crowds of people were never ending.

Starting to agree with you George. Why pay to go have a look, when you can visit a dealership and take your time over the purchases, for no entrance fees?

Probably would only go, if we wanted to buy a newer van. But really don't think that will be happening for a very long time....lotto wins may/could change that thought.   ;) ;) :o :D :D

The one at Caulfield Racecourse, Melbourne, was always a good one.
First year here we went to the Albury "Outdoors, Camping & Caravan Show".
Not a single motorhome on display, not even a Jayco one on their stand. A fair few off-road vans, as well as 'pretend' off-roaders with the 'tough' dress-up bits & bulky tyres on the standard van (not even higher clearance suspension on most).
All the "Accessories" stands were for 4WD bushies. Nothing we'd consider adding to our rig.
And there were more fast food stands than caravans, I reckon! :P
First and last time...
Regards & God bless,
